The GMRC research team deployed acoustic monitors in the Restigouche River near Listuguj on May 17th. GMRC Director of Research Carole-anne Gillis and Aquatic Research Technician Jessica Gedeon launched three acoustic receivers spanning across the river.

The receivers will record each tagged smolt as they migrate between May 15th and June 10th down river.  Three acoustic receivers were deployed near Dalhousie on May 16th  and  four will be deployed above the Matapedia confluence.

A total of 80 smolts will be tagged and the receivers will indicate the survival between the different receivers locations.

As the smolts continue with their journey, acoustic receivers will track them as they make their way to Labrador.
