March 22 World Water Day

The Gespe’gewaq Mi’gmaq Resource Council (GMRC) is celebrating World Water Day with the official launch of our video produced on climate change. World Water Day is recognized each year on March 22 by the United Nations. The theme this year is focused on groundwater, which makes up almost all the freshwater in the world. As climate change impacts increase, ground water becomes even more critical. In Mi’gmaq, our word for how the weather is changing is Pemsa’se’wigisg’g. In our video, we will examine our relationship with water, and how the community of Listuguj is being impacted by climate change and the ways they are adapting to the changes they are facing.
