World Fish Migration Day

World Fish Migration Day
The Gespe’gewaq Mi’gmaq Resource Council is celebrating World Fish Migration Day by unveiling an interpretation sign highlighting restoration work our organization has conducted in Causapscal, Quebec. The interpretation sign unveiling was held on Friday, May 13th at the Matamajaw Fishing Heritage Site in Causapscal. World Fish Migration Day is held every two years on May 21st, bringing the global community together and creating awareness on the importance of migratory fish and free-flowing rivers. GMRC has been working diligently to ensure migratory fish can swim up rivers, by removing fragmentations due to human activity, and removing dams as well as ensuring that culverts are suitable for fish passage.
