Staff from the Gespe’gewaq Mi’gmaq Resource Council (GMRC) and the Restigouche River Watershed Management Council (RRWMC) visited a fish ladder in St. Quentin late last week. Miriam Lebeau and David LeBlanc were taking measurements throughout the fish ladder, and looking at ways to improve the infrastucture. Fish ladders are structures built to help fish migration up river. This is part of the ongoing work to identify and restore priority habitats for Atlantic salmon, Atlantic sturgeon and American eel in the Restigouche River watershed and its estuary. This project is funded by the Canadian Nature Fund for Aquatic Species at Risk (CNFASAR).
